‘Japanese pub' concept Kurobuta Chelsea downscales in Fulham Road move

‘Japanese pub' concept Kurobuta Chelsea will relocate to a site half a kilometre away after agreeing on terms for its new, smaller site.

The restaurant, which is based on the informal small plate offering of Japanese izakayas, will take over the 351 Fulham Road site that previously traded as Meat Up.

The relocation means a significant downsize for the restaurant, one of two Kurobuta's in the capital. The new site spans 1,208 sq ft compared to its original 312-314 Kings Road address, which comprised 3,530 sq ft of space including a private dining room and bar area. Its neighbours on Kings Road include D&D's Bluebird and the Ivy Chelsea Garden.

Louie Gazdar, Agency & Leasing at Davis Coffer Lyons which is now marketing the lease for the Kings Road site, said: "Kurobuta's new home on the Fulham Road is a great fit for the brand and we have no doubt it will be a success following the relocation to the smaller site from the Kings Road restaurant."

Kurobuta will continue to trade on the site until the sale is completed.
