James O'Grady appointed head chef of the White Horse in Dorking

James O'Grady has been appointed head chef of the Dozen restaurant concept at the White Horse in Dorking.

The Surrey hotel recently opened the 100-cover ‘drink, dine and deli' concept serving traditional British and modern European cuisine following a £4m investment by Bespoke Hotels to transform the property into a "foodie destination". Bespoke acquired the property from American private equity company Lone Star last year.

O'Grady was previously head chef at Soho House's Dean Street Townhouse in London. His experience also includes roles with the Royal Automobile Club in London and Wentworth golf club in Surrey. He replaces Gavin Chilcott.

Beccy Gunn, general manager at the White Horse, said: "James brings a wealth of experience to the team and we look forward to developing a new foodie destination for Surrey locals and hotel guests."

O'Grady added that he was "thrilled" to bring his experience to the White Horse team and "excited" to develop the Dozen.
