The Master Robert hotel near London Heathrow Airport is to be rebuilt and relaunched as an Ibis Styles property with a residential element.
Bought by Splendid Hospitality Group 16 years ago, the new look 125-bedroom hotel in Hounslow will be a nod to 1930s design, with inspiration from nearby early to mid-20th century buildings including the Hoover building, Firestone headquarters and Gillette factory. The interior will feature the clean lines, neutral curves and geometric patterns of the Art Deco era.
TW Construct will lead the build project, with the interior design overseen by Wakefield-based Matthews Mee.
Ibis Styles London Heathrow Airport East will be Splendid's fourth franchise with AccorHotel, alongside the Mercure Hotel Leeds Centre, Mercure Bristol Brigstow and Ibis York Centre. Splendid's portfolio of hotels comprises 19 properties operating under Hilton, InterContinental Hotels Group and independent brands, as well as AccorHotel badges.
Stuart Bailey, chief executive of Splendid Hospitality Group, said: "After working on the development of this property for several years, I am pleased to see it coming to fruition. It is an unusual proposition with hotel and residential accommodation and I am very passionate about it and what it will bring to the local area."
Philip Lassman, vice president, head of development, AccorHotels UK and Ireland, added: "We're thrilled to be partnering with Splendid Hospitality on another hotel which will take the Ibis Styles UK network to a significant milestone of 25 hotels. We're seeing considerable appetite from investors and owners for brands like Ibis Styles that have international recognition but still offer an element of flexibility and local feel."
