Hospitality bosses urge prime minister to stick to reopening roadmap

A letter signed by 38 hospitality bosses has called on the prime minister to confirm the reopening of indoor hospitality in England on 17 May and “not let it be derailed by talk of vaccine passports”.

The letter, published in The Sunday Telegraph, was signed by the likes of D&D London chief executive David Loewi, Wahaca chief executive Mark Selby, Mitchells & Butlers chief executive Phil Urban, Fuller’s Simon Emeny and Young’s Patrick Dardis.

It said: “We must be driven by data not dates – and the data say it is safe to confirm now the reopening of indoor hospitality on May 17 and the lifting of all social-distancing restrictions on hospitality on June 21. This is vital as government support for hospitality tapers away then, and without it many businesses will be unviable.”
