Industry charity Hospitality Action has extended its Winter Fuel Grants Programme to include people of working age.
The Winter Fuel Grants Programme offers a £100 one-off grant to those struggling to pay their essential fuel bills, and was previously only available to those aged over 60. It will now be extended to all those who work within the hospitality industry but receive a low income.
Those seeking a grant will need to apply to Hospitality Action by 31 March 2015, and fill in the application form as explained here.
Penny Moore, chief executive of Hospitality Action, urged anyone struggling to contact the charity.
She said: "Now the weather has turned, many people within our industry are being forced to go without heating. A number of our beneficiaries are making cutbacks on food shopping and in turn are risking their health as a result."
Hospitality Action is the industry's benevolent charity, and offers financial and emotional assistance to hospitality employees past and present, and their families. In 2013 it spent over £500,000 on workers who had fallen on hard times, and also runs the Employee Assistance Programme, which seeks to provide a lifeline for current industry workers struggling in any way.
It runs a number of annual fundraising events including sports challenges, dinners by top industry chefs, and charity auctions.
