Heythrop Park hotel to reopen after £40m refurbishment

Heythrop Park hotel in the Cotswolds is to reopen this summer following a £40m renovation.

The 300-year-old property was acquired by adults-only hotel group Warner Leisure Hotels in 2018 as the 15th venue in its portfolio.

Heythrop Park was originally built for the 1st Duke of Shrewsbury in 1706-11 and sits within 440 acres of grounds, which include the Bainbridge Championship Golf Course.

Bookings are now open for the hotel, which features 337 bedrooms, three restaurants, six lounges, a spa with outdoor hot tubs, and two theatres which will host daily shows, music festivals and comedy nights.

Design agency DesignLSM renovated the front of house and food and beverage areas of the hotel, drawing inspiration from the Duke’s Grand Tour of Italy, his working relationship with architect Thomas Archer, and ideas from current owner Thomas Brassey.

Simon Thompson, managing director of Warner Leisure Hotels, said: “We’ve seen first-hand that the rise in demand for domestic breaks is here to stay as people recognise the treasures we have on our doorstep.

“The appetite for summer breaks is huge this year as people are no doubt looking forward to a holiday season free of limitations. The last couple of months have brought an influx of bookings and we’re over the moon to welcome guests new and existing through Heythrop Park’s doors in August to showcase some of the best the UK has to offer.”

Warner Leisure’s parent company Bourne Leisure was acquired by funds managed by Blackstone Capital Partners last year.
