Hawksmoor Group has announced that it will close Foxlow Chiswick at the end of this week having admitted "we haven't been able to make it work".
The site was bought from restaurateur Sam Harrison, who ran it for 10 years as Sam's Brasserie, along with the current Foxlow Balham site, in 2015.
In a mailing to the restaurantâs database, Foxlow said that it would attempt to find roles for employees elsewhere in the group.
It said: âWeâre sorry to tell you that we have decided to close Foxlow Chiswick and will be closing the doors on March 18th after the lunch service. Although weâve loved running the restaurant, and know that a good many of you have taken it to your hearts and become regulars, we havenât been able to make it work.
âIf you do [visit our other sites] we hope youâll see some familiar faces as weâre trying to find places for as many of the fantastic staff at Foxlow Chiswick as possible.â
Foxlow is Hawksmoor founders' Will Beckett and Huw Gottâs neighbourhood-style restaurant brand. The pair opened the Soho site in March 2017, having closed Stoke Newington saying âwe made a couple of poor decisionsâ.
In September 2017 Hawksmoorâs owner Underdog reported a £9m pre-tax loss for the financial year ending 31 December 2016, which Beckett put down to Hawksmoorâs sister brand Foxlow having a âpretty tough timeâ. The Hawksmoor arm of the business made a pre-tax profit of £4.2m in the same period.
Hawksmoor was founded in 2006 and has grown to seven sites, with an eighth in Edinburgh set to open in July 2018. A branch is also planned for Westfield World Trade Center in lower Manhattan, New York, though the development has been delayed.
