Wine distributor Hatch Mansfield has become the exclusive supplier for South Africa’s new Visio Vintners label.
Vision Vintners joins Hatch Mansfield’s other South African label, Kleine Zalze.
Visio Vintners is a collaboration between the owners of Stellenbosch estate Kleine Zalze and the Kleine Zalze Empowerment Trust. The Trust was set up by Kobus Basson, the then-owner of Kleine Zalze, who wanted to give back to the vineyard’s 80 employees by giving them a share of the Visio Vintner’s profits.
The first vineyards, which cover 15 hectares, were planted in 2017 and are next door to Kleine Zalze. The wines are made in the Kleine Zalze cellar under the direction of cellarmaster RJ Botha, and Visio Vintners’ director, Norman Paulse.
Ben Knollys managing director at Hatch Mansfield said: “This is a really inspiring initiative with some outstanding wines. It’s a real privilege for us at Hatch Mansfield to bring this to the UK market and to work with such a committed and quality-focussed team.”
Gerald Snyman trustee of the Kleine Zalze Empowerment Trust and Kleine Zalze farm manager said the “success of Visio Vintners will be determined by the quality of what is in the bottle”. He added that he’s “delighted” to see the empowerment scheme create opportunities for farm workers and that they can “produce a product that can stand alongside the country's best”.
Visio Vintners wines available via Hatch Mansfield includes a Sauvignon Blanc and a Cinsault Rosé.
