Rothay Garden hotel in Grasmere will now be rebranded and refurbished.
Harbour Hotels Group has acquired Rothay Garden hotel in the Lake District’s Grasmere for an undisclosed amount.
The purchase is intended to expand the group’s presence in the north of England, and the property will be rebranded as Rothay Garden by Harbour Hotels.
The 32-bedroom hotel will now undergo what Harbour terms as a “non-intrusive” refurbishment programme, continuing to trade while works are carried out to introduce the brand’s style throughout the building.
Mike Warren, Harbour’s CEO, believes that Rothay Garden will “prove very popular with our guests and locals alike”.
The property is set within two acres of gardens on the outskirts of Grasmere village, with every element of the hotel inspired by its rural surroundings.
As well as its rooms and suites, the estate also contains the newly refurbished private Riverside Lodge, accommodating up to eight guests, while facilities include a two AA rosette restaurant, bar and lounge, as well as the Riverside Spa.
In 2023, Harbour put the Kings Arms hotel in Christchurch, Dorset on the market for a guide price of £4m, as part of its strategic review.
