The Set, the hotel collection behind Hotel Café Royal, has appointed Guillaume Marly as managing director, with a start date set in November.
Marly's appointment follows the departure of Thomas Kochs who left the business in April 2017 to take on a managing director role at the Corinthia Hotel London.
Formerly of the 157-bedroom ME London, where he held the role of general manager, Marly has worked in top hotels such as the Ritz; the Connaught; Claridgeâs; the Jumeirah Carlton Tower; the Dorchester; and André Balazs Hotels, where he oversaw the launch of the Chiltern Firehouse.
Marly said: "It is a real privilege to have the opportunity of leading Hotel Café Royal through its next phase of development. It has been a truly iconic property in London for more than 150 years and I am proud to be part of such a magnificent project."
Georgi Akirov, chairman of the Set added: âGuillaume is the ideal pick to position Hotel Café Royal in line with our vision of creating the modern grand hotels of our time. I look forward to supporting him as he works hand with hand with the rest of our team in further strengthening the hotelâs position in the market.â
The Set currently operates Hotel Café Royal; Conservatorium in Amsterdam; and the Lutetia in Paris which is due to open later this year.
