Planning permission has been granted for a 145-bedroom Moxy in Manchester's Spinningfields district.
Henry Boot Developments is working with hotel management company Khanna Enterprises on the nine-storey site, which will form part of the Silk Works development, currently known as Invicta House.
Situated on Atkinson Street and Scott Place, the Silk Works scheme will be a newly constructed building sitting behind the existing façade on Atkinson Street. Works will start soon, with construction commencing within six months.
Moxy, a millennial-focused boutique hotel concept from Marriott International, opened its first hotel in Milan in 2014, and debuted in the UK in December at Aberdeen International Airport. There are currently 11 Moxy hotels open globally, one other UK hotel in London, the Moxy London ExCeL; and hotels in London Stratford, London Heathrow, Glasgow Collegelands, Edinburgh Airport, Southampton, Bristol and York in the pipeline.
Dean Thompson, regional manager for HBD in the North West, said: "The Silk Works is a beautiful heritage building, so it will be great to see it back to its best and bringing something new to the city."
Anil Khanna, director of Khanna Enterprises, said: "KE Hotels are looking forward to developing and operating Moxy by Marriott in Spinningfields."
NJL Consulting is advising on planning and ICA Architects is the appointed architect.
