BBC Two’s Great British Menu to celebrate iconic food from children’s literature

Creative dishes reflecting children’s literature will be the focus of the 15th series of Great British Menu which return to BBC Two TV in the spring.

Lawyer-turned-comedian Susan Calman will become the programme’s first presenter, while two extra courses will be introduced to the programme – an amuse bouche and pre-dessert in addition to a starter, fish course, main course and dessert.

At the end of the series, the chefs who devise the best dishes for each course will prepare a banquet.

The judges – Matthew Fort, Oliver Peyton and Andi Oliver – will remain the same.

Fort said: “Food and children’s books - what a wonderful combination. Both are doorways to fabulous worlds. At their best, both celebrate the power of imagination. And I have the feeling that we’re going to get rather a lot of that.”

The 2019 series of Great British Menu saw the triumphant chefs - Luke Selby, Lorna McNee, Tom Anglesea, and Adam Reid – prepare a four-course banquet at Abbey Road Studios. McNee of Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles hotel in Auchterarder, Perthshire, was declared the overall winner.

The chefs for the news series are yet to be revealed, but they will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Tom Kerridge, Marcus Wareing, Angela Hartnett, Nathan Outlaw and Sat Bains.
