Gordon McIntyre honoured with HIT Scotland Industry Award

Gordon McIntyre, curriculum head of events at City of Glasgow College, has been awarded this year's Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland Industry Award.

McIntyre, who has worked at the college for 28 years, was announced the winner last night at the charity's industry dinner at the Glasgow Hilton hotel.

The award recognised the support he has given to the industry over the years and is believed to be the first time the award has gone to someone in hospitality education. The awards are usually given to chefs or those working directly in the industry with Albert Roux, Peter Lederer and Andrew Fairlie among some of the high-profile recipients.

McIntyre, who is also shortlisted for this year's Education and Training Catey Award, said: "To be recognised by the industry at this level is amazing. It is a tribute and testament to the talented young people we have the privilege of teaching at the college, who leave us ready for the careers ahead of them."

Paul Little, principal and chief executive at City of Glasgow College, added: "[Gordon] is a much respected member of Team City with a 28-year career that has seen him pass on his considerable knowledge and expertise to several generations of students. Our congratulations go to him on this well-deserved achievement."
