Glynn Purnell and Rachel Allen to judge My Kitchen Rules UK

Michelin-starred Glynn Purnell of Purnell's in Birmingham and Irish chef Rachel Allen have been confirmed as judges for series two of Channel 4's My Kitchen Rules UK.

Produced by 7 Wonder, the daytime cookery competition will launch on 25 September and run for eight weeks, Monday to Friday at 4pm.

The hour-long cooking show will see 20 pairs of cooks open their home restaurants for one night in a bid to win £10,000.

They must cook a three-course restaurant standard meal against the clock. Dishes served late will have points deducted off and the lowest scoring team from each region will be eliminated.

The strongest teams from each region will go through to the My Kitchen Rules mansion, where they will be joined every day by a different chef including: Pierre Koffmann; Nathan Outlaw; Antonio Carluccio; Claude Bosi; and Ken Hom.

Purnell said: "My Kitchen Rules UK is an absolutely brilliant TV showcase for amateur chefs who are passionate about food. I couldn't be more excited to be part of it and I'm thrilled to be alongside my fellow judge and host Rachel Allen, a highly respected culinary leading lady. I can't wait for it to be broadcast on Channel 4, and for everyone at home to see what a great time we had filming it earlier this year. I was completely amazed at the breadth of creativity contestants across Britain showed when creating a unique dining experience for each other, as well as for Rachel and myself."

Allen added: "I'm delighted to be hosting the new series of My Kitchen Rules UK with the amazingly talented yummy Brummie, Glynn Purnell. Throughout the course of the filming, we judged some of the UK's best home chefs who are confident they've got what it takes to win the grand prize. For anyone with a foodie dream, this is the best TV show around. The contestants we had the pleasure of working with cooked great food and impressed not only Glynn and I, but a host of celebrity guest judges that joined us throughout the competition."
