The Cotswolds hotel continues to trade while options are considered for its future.
The King’s Head hotel in Cirencester has entered administration with advisors considering its future.
FRP Advisory was appointed administrator to KHH Cirencester Limited, the company behind the boutique hotel, on 29 November.
It is understood the King’s Head remains open and will continue to trade as normal while administrators explore options regarding the future of the business.
Accounts show KHH Cirencester Limited made a pre-tax loss of £1.85m in the year ended 31 March 2023, down from a £1.5m profit the previous 12 months.
Turnover slightly rose during the year to £4.99m but director Mark Booth wrote in its accounts the business needed to remain “vigilant” on costs due to utility price rises and the cost of living crisis.
The Cotswolds hotel features 66 bedrooms, 10 apartments, a spa, two restaurants and a deli and wine cellar.
The hotel building was used as a coaching inn during the 14th century and relaunched in 2014 following a seven-year, £7m refurbishment by Booth, who is a property developer.
It has been managed by both Vineyard Group and Bespoke Hotels in the past but is no longer operated by either company.
