Four eateries sign up for White City Place development

Four restaurants - the Athenian, Pizza Street, Coco di Mama and Butterscotch Bakery - are due to open later this year, at White City Place, the new mixed-use development in West London.

Greek street food eatery the Athenian was launched in 2014 by two Londoners born and raised in Athens and Cyprus.

The White City restaurant will offer dishes using high quality produce directly from small independent producers and farmers in Greece and the UK.

Efthymios Vasilakis, founder and director of the Athenian said: "We can't wait to bring our fresh and delicious Athenian food to White City Place. This will be our very first proper restaurant concept, with plenty of indoor seating and a brand-new menu. We're currently working on unique new recipes, with innovative twists"

Fast-food, New York style pizza restaurant Pizza Street will open its second restaurant in White City, having launched their inaugural restaurant in Chiswick in 2015. Alongside pizza, it offers BBQ grilled chicken, salads, craft beers and thick shakes.

Coco di Mama, the Italian grab & go brand, will open its 18th site. It launched in 2011 and in recent years has opened sites across the capital in Margaret Street in the West End, Victoria, Bankside and St James.

Butterscotch Bakery, the cake and American goods bakery founded by Bea Vo, previously of Bea's of Bloomsbury, will be opening a new café. It will serve American style layered cakes, peanut butter brownies, white chocolate blondies, cheesecakes, fruity marshmallows and cupcakes.

Developers Stanhope teamed up with landowners Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCo to purchase four acres of freehold land and the lease of six buildings from the BBC for £87m in June 2015.

It will house restaurants, retail spaces and 566,290 sq ft of office space. Confirmed tenants for White City Place include ITV, YOOX Net-A-Porter, the Royal College of Art and Huckletree.

The site, which played host to the 1908 Olympic Games, was previously acquired by the BBC in the mid-1980s. The three other buildings at White City Place - the Broadcast Centre, Energy Centre and Lighthouse building will continue to be occupied by the BBC.

David Camp, chief executive at Stanhope said: "The arrival of these four brilliant retailers demonstrates the dynamic and exciting food and beverage offer at White City Place. From great coffee to freshly made souvlaki, workers and residents will be able to enjoy the great dining options on their doorstep."
