Canadian chef Peter Tonge, who started his career at Neil Perry's Rockpool in Sydney, is to head a new venture in London's Notting Hill.
Neighbourhood all-day restaurant and bar 184 Green and Grill is due to open next month. It will specialise in wood-fire grilled fish and meat, and will also serve plant-based dishes.
Tonge has experience in top restaurants including including Tom Aikens and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and David Chang's Momufuku in New York.
184 is owned by mother and son team Alex Giri and Oscar Harris. Giri said: "We are in the vanguard of flexitarian dining. If you go out to eat with four or five friends, work colleagues or family the chances are one person will want a steak but someone else will be vegetarian. This is food for modern diners. We want to create a restaurant where everyone around the table will feel looked after."
Tonge has worked closely with Hanson architects to refurbish the site. The ground floor will be a bright modern dining space, whilst downstairs has been designed as a cosy and intimate bar where diners can enjoy cocktails and sharing plates.
