Former home of Earl Kitchener in Kent to become hotel

Broome Park, one-time home of Earl Kitchener of Kartoum in Kent, is to be reinstated as a hotel resort after being sold to Hong King-based Pyrrho Investments off a guide price of £6m.

Countrywide Properties will manage the business following its conversion to a hotel. The estate includes a restaurant, bar and extensive leisure facilities, including an indoor pool, gym, two all-weather tennis courts and an 18-hole golf course.

Anson Chan, chairman of the Bonds Group, parent company of Pyrrho Investments, said it is his intention to restore Broome Park “to its former glory over the next few years”.

Jeremy Jones, director at Christie & Co, which handled the sale, added: “Broome Park presented a fantastic opportunity for a variety of buyers as it offers potential to capitalise on the current estate and location.”
