Matthew Herter has joined Kudos, Crown Partnerships' events and venue catering arm, as chief executive.
Herter began his career as a chef joining Levy Restaurants in 2006, and worked for the company in both the UK and America as international operations director.
In 2009 he returned to the UK to lead the conversion of the Compass sports and leisure portfolio to Levy Restaurants UK, taking on the role of international operations director. He left Compass in 2016, and has since been working on projects and consulting in the UK and internationally.
Asked what attracted him to Kudos, Herter told The Caterer: "It's a privately owned company where there's a real commitment to quality food, quality service, quality experiences and great local ingredients. It's not formulaic and it's a wonderful diverse portfolio."
The former chef said his role would be to challenge the team at Kudos to "keep pushing the boundaries and keep innovating and pushing the business forward".
He added: "We want to always be at the forefront of new and exciting ideas; we want to be creating guest experiences that are unique to our venues and operations."
Herter said his background drives a commitment to the product Kudos serves, explaining: "My background is as a chef before I moved into senior management. I will always have a passion for food and quality ingredients, I think it's about sticking to those ideals."
