Focus Hotels has been awarded the contract to operate the Cheshunt Marriott hotel and rebrand it under Marriott’s Delta brand, which will see the property receive a £3m refurbishment.
Works will commence later this month with a full refurbishment of the bedrooms, meeting rooms and public areas on the cards. Focus Hotels will manage the investment into the 140-bedroom Hertfordshire hotel with a reopening scheduled for late spring.
The hotel is currently closed and a new team of approximately 70 is being recruited over the next three months.
Lynn Hood, chief operating officer for Focus Hotels, said: “We are delighted to welcome Delta Hotels by Marriott to our portfolio of hotels alongside our Hilton and Mercure estate and independent hotels portfolio.
“We look forward to being ready to welcome the corporate market as it re-emerges and gets back to work to this newly refurbished Delta by Marriott hotel.’’
Peter Cashman, chief executive of Focus Hotels, added: “We view winning this contract as a strong vote of confidence in Focus Hotel management and our commitment towards creating owner value and a sustainable business platform.”
He described it as a “significant step” in the group’s plans for growth and expansion.
