Eva Mount appointed general manager of the BoTree

Eva Mount has been appointed general manager of London’s BoTree hotel to oversee its opening on Marylebone Lane this summer.

Mount was previously general manager of the property’s sister site, the Guardsman in Westminster, as well as the Athenaeum Hotel & Residences and the Arch London, and spent more than 10 years with Firmdale Hotels, including as general manager of its Dorset Square and Charlotte Street hotels.

She said: “Launching the BoTree is a labour of love and it’s an honour to be at the helm of such an exciting London opening. The BoTree will offer guests a vibrant and elegant place to stay with two incredible restaurants, a nightclub and an unparalleled location from which to discover the city.”

Rishi Sachdev, managing director of owner Shiva Hotels, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have Eva lead the opening of our flagship hotel in the heart of London’s West End. Her experience in new hotel openings is invaluable. Eva’s thorough understanding of our purpose-driven approach to establish our own form of luxury, conscious luxury, and our core brand values of truth, love and compassion, will enable her to embed the brand’s DNA into the BoTree, making her uniquely qualified to oversee the opening.”

The 199-room luxury hotel will have 29 suites, ‘dynamic bars’, two destination restaurants, one of which will have rooftop views of the city, a live music club, a boutique screening room and a fitness centre.

The BoTree will also be a sister hotel to Middle Eight in Covent Garden and a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts’ Legend Collection.

The site previously housed businesses including Meat Liquor's first permanent site, which it was confirmed in 2017 would be replaced by a hotel. Shiva secured £230m for the development in 2020.

It is the latest luxury lifestyle property in the group's portfolio. Shiva, established in 2001, was previously better known for its portfolio of London-based, Hilton-branded properties. The company has also been vocal in its commitment to tackling modern slavery in the hospitality industry through the Shiva Foundation. The group put four of its Hilton hotels on the market for £270m in 2015 as part of a refocusing on the luxury boutique hotel market and the Lincoln Plaza London remains the only Hilton-branded hotel listed on the group's website. The Guardsman and Middle Eight opened in 2020.

Nicolas Monaglio will take over as hotel manager of the Guardsman, having previously held the role of deputy general manager.
