Today is World Water Day and new data from water brand EauVation shows that nearly seven out of 10 consumers are concerned, or very concerned, with the use of single-use plastic water bottles involved in the serving of table water in the eating out sector.
The growing concern follows on in the footsteps of campaigns such as Sky's Ocean Rescue which was pivotal in driving awareness of the fact that more than eight million tonnes of plastic is thrown away each year and washed out to sea. By 2050, it is estimated that plastic could outweigh fish in the world's seas.
"We're calling on caterers on World Water Day to take stock and consider these issues and, even better - to support and drive change. The focus on the use of plastic is only going to increase, and so now is the time for us all to come together and make positive purchasing decisions for the future of the sector and the planet."
