A new venue opening in east London this spring will feature the UK’s first integrated indoor vertical farm.
Corner Corner will be a multi-use space in Canada Water blending food outlets, live music, and indoor farming.
The dining experience will be overseen by street food specialist Kerb, which also operates London’s Seven Dials Market.
The on-site commercial indoor vertical farm, developed by food system firm, Harvest London, will be designed to grow produce to supply Kerb’s food hall and all-day café. It is also hoped the farm will supply restaurants across London in a mission to build a sustainable, hyper-local food system.
Simon Mitchell, chief executive of Kerb, said: “We saw an opportunity to do something fresh and push food halls in a new direction.
“Street food is always evolving and challenging your expectations - from pop-up markets to feeding thousands of people at world-class venues. Corner Corner is the next chapter in that story - championing sustainability and setting a new standard for what street food and food halls can be”.
Chris Davies, chief executive of Harvest London, said the company was “thrilled to be at the heart of Corner Corner”.
He added: “Our mission is to transform the way we grow, distribute, and consume food, and Corner Corner provides the perfect environment to showcase the possibilities of hyper-local, sustainable farming.”
The site will include an 18,000 sq ft events space which will be run by Broadwick, which is known for its live music and events.
It will be be available to hire for brand partners and home to a "major immersive experience", which is due to be announced shortly.
