Dormy House wins Small Luxury Hotel of the Year

Dormy House hotel has been named Hotel of the Year 2017 by Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH).

Described by the consortium as being "very nearly perfect", the 38-bedroom, four-red-AA-star hotel in Broadway, Worcestershire beat 500 other member hotels from across the world for the accolade. It was one of 13 hotels honoured with awards at the sales and marketing consortium's International Conference at the Pelican Hill resort in California.

Dormy House underwent a £10m refurbishment in 2013 and is part of the Farncombe Estate, which has been owned by the Danish Philip-Sorensen family since 1977 and also includes the nearby Fish hotel and Foxhill Manor.

Andrew Grahame, chief executive of the Farncombe Estate, said: "This is wonderful recognition for Dormy House. We are absolutely thrilled to win such a prestigious international award. An enormous well done has to go to our outstanding Dormy House team; their dedication and passion to provide the best possible levels of service and experiences for our guests is second to none."

Giovanni Sanchez, a waiter at the Arch London's Hunter 486 restaurant, was also awarded the Hotel Hero award.

Filip Boyen, chief executive of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, said: "We are delighted to recognise these exceptional hotels that showcase our independently minded ethos in such a variety of creative, classy and culturally relevant ways."
