Dinner by Heston Blumenthal to launch second outpost in Dubai in 2019

Dinner by Heston Blumenthal will open its second outpost in Dubai in 2019.

The latest opening of the concept conceived by Michelin-starred Blumenthal will join a site in Melbourne, Australia, and the original restaurant in the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London.

The restaurant, incorporating a bar, two outside terraces and a private dining room, will be in the Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences and offer contemporary dishes inspired by historic gastronomic recipes.

Blumenthal said: "I am truly excited about opening in this incredible location. It is not often that an opportunity in such an perfect space comes along. The backdrop is outstanding and the views of the Dubai skyline over the Persian Gulf are quite unique. Ashley Palmer-Watts (pictured with Blumenthal) and I are looking forward to creating something quite special for our guests to enjoy."

The Dinner concept was born out of Blumenthal's fascination with history and gastronomy, triggered by his reading of a 15^th century manuscript known as The Vivendier. The manuscript spoke of a dining experience full of playfulness and theatre, as well as intriguing ingredients and recipes.

Early dishes appeared on the menu at the three-Michelin-starred Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire, with the concept developing as Blumenthal opened his first Dinner in London in 2011, under the leadership of Palmer-Watts.

The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences will offer 231 luxury apartments in the crescent of the Palm next to the iconic Atlantis when it opens.

Last week it was results filed with Companies House revealed that the Fat Duck had returned to profit following its first full year back on home turf following a brief migration to Australia.
