D&D London's Chelsea restaurant Bluebird is to open in New York within the Time Warner Centre, Columbus Circle next spring.
The move comes as part of D&D Londonâs plan to expand overseas. Following the launch of Bluebird New York, a second D&D restaurant will launch in the Hudson Yards development in March 2019.
Chairman and chief executive Des Gunewardena said: âI am incredibly excited about us opening Bluebird in New York â"Â we could not have picked a more prime location. The Time Warner Centre at Columbus Circle, with its views over Central Park, is about as good as it gets for a Midtown Manhattan restaurant venue. We think that Bluebird encapsulates much of the buzz and glamour of the London restaurant scene today and will also bring to New York the quintessential style of Londonâs Chelsea. We hope New Yorkers like it!â
Cetra Ruddy, the team behind Sushisamba, will oversee the interior design.
Founded by Des Gunewardena and David Loewi in 2006, following a buyout of Conran Restaurants, D&D London operates restaurants, bars and hotels London, Paris, New York and Tokyo, including the Michelin-starred Angler in Moorgate, London.
Last year, the group celebrated its 10th anniversary with its highest-ever levels of turnover and profit. The company announced a 3% rise in turnover to £107.8m for the year ending 31 March 2016, up from £104.9m the previous year.
