David Stevens has left his group executive chef role at the Wolseley Hospitality Group to take up a job with his former boss Jeremy King.

According to his LinkedIn page, Stevens has joined Jeremy King Restaurants to oversee the reopening of Simpsons in the Strand in London as executive chef.

His page listing said he was “working on all pre-opening set up for this iconic British classic”.

Stevens previously worked as head pastry chef at the Wolseley in London and was promoted to group executive chef at the Wolseley Hospitality Group while it was still run by King as Corbin & King in 2017.

However, King was ousted from the business in 2022 after a battle for control with Thai hotel group Minor International, which later rebranded the business.

The restaurateur has since returned to the London scene with the opening of Arlington in the former Le Caprice site in Mayfair.

King will relaunch Simpson’s in the Strand, which is one of London’s oldest restaurants and first opened in 1828, later this year.

In his new role, Hilton oversees a brigade of 200 team members across London restaurants the Wolseley, the Wolseley City, Brasserie Zedel, Manzi’s of Soho, Colbert, Soutine, Fischer’s and Bellanger.

Hilton said: “I’m excited to be working across our nine restaurants and will be focusing my efforts on our younger generation of chefs as well as developing our menus.

“Every month we run masterclasses and supplier visits to teach our chefs the skills they need to succeed within our industry.”
