QHotels has appointed Daniel Goodby as general manager of the four-AA-star, 102-bedroom the Stratford hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Goodby joins the property following roles as operations manager at the Waldorf Hilton hotel in London and hotel manager at the Macdonald Randolph hotel in Oxford. He started his career as a luggage porter at QHotels' Chesford Grange in Warwick, rising through the ranks to reservations manager before leaving for the same role at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole in 2008.
In his new role he will oversee the Stratford's six events and meeting rooms, which cater for up to 132 delegates, as well as the hotel restaurant, Quills.
Goodby said: "It has always been my intention to return to QHotels, but to take my first general manager role at the Stratford, which I believe has an exceptional boutique feel, is a great honour."
Michael Purtill, managing director at QHotels, added: "Daniel has a truly inspiring story, from starting with us originally as a luggage porter 15 years ago, to taking this prestigious role as general manager and we're extremely proud to welcome Daniel back to the group."
