D&D London to open restaurant at top of Birmingham's tallest office building

D&D London is to move into Birmingham with the launch of a rooftop restaurant within the city’s tallest office building.

The group has signed a 25-year lease with Sterling Property Ventures for a 6,500 ft sq site on the 23rd and 24th floors, as well as part of the ground floor, of 104 Colmore Row.

The rooftop restaurant will have a double-height space with views across the city, while the kitchen and back of house will be located on the 23rd floor. A cocktail bar and café with an outdoor terrace that will form part of the property’s winter garden will be located on the ground floor.

The rest of the building – the tallest new building under construction outside London – will be occupied by offices. Architects Doone Silver Kerr is the designer of the building.

Des Gunewardena, chairman and chief executive of D&D London, said: “We have been looking to open a restaurant in Birmingham for some time now, just waiting to find the right site. With its central location and unrivalled rooftop views, 103 Colmore Row provides us with a fabulous opportunity to join the city’s thriving restaurant scene.”

The Birmingham restaurant will join D&D London’s other outlets outside the capital in Leeds, Manchester, Paris, New York and Tokyo.

The company now owns and operates more than 40 restaurants, as well as South Place hotel in the City of London.

Opening of 104 Colmore Row is expected to take place in autumn 2021.
