Comptoir Group has reported a pre-tax loss of £528,000 for the six months to 30 June 2019, down from £693,000 for the same period last year.
The half-year results for the group of Lebanese and eastern Mediterranean restaurants also highlighted a marginal 0.2% increase in revenue to £15.8m and adjusted EBITDA of £2m, up 11.1%.
Richard Kleiner, non-executive chairman, said that the “consistent, differentiated offering” from Comptoir, with an evolving menu and offering value for money, had set the business apart from the majority of operators, “a number of which continue to struggle and have fallen victim to these difficult times”.
He added: “Our cautious approach to investment in new sites has been maintained, whilst taking the opportunity to carry out selective refurbishments in the existing estate. This coupled with our dedicated focus from our operational and support teams across the business helps drive the optimal experience for all of our customers."
Comptoir currently owns and trades from 25 restaurants (20 Comptoir Libanais, two Yalla Yalla, one Shawa, one Levant and one Kenza) with an additional four franchise restaurants.
