Compass targets £144,000 fund for dementia support

Compass Group's healthcare team has set itself a target to raise £144,000 to fund dementia support workers as part of its work with the Alzheimer's Society.

The business first began its work with the charity in May 2015 and has since raised over £150,000 to fund research into dysphagia in people living in a residential care setting.

It will now continue its efforts by pledging to raise money for Dementia Support, a programme which aims to fund dementia support workers who help families better cope with the impact of a dementia diagnosis.

To hit its £144,000 target in two years the healthcare team will begin fundraising with a 100k mile challenge, which will involve team members either walking, running, swimming, rowing or cycling 100k in a three-month period. They will also take part in the Alzheimer's Society's Memory Walk.

These one-to-one support services are essential for those living with dementia as it provides important information, support and confidence to ensure people have a better quality of life. We are thrilled to continue our support for the charity in all the work they do around dementia and hope the money we raise will go a long way in helping those living with dementia to live better in the future."
