The Claymore hotel in Arrochar sold to Caledonian Leisure

The Claymore hotel in Arrochar, Scotland, has been sold to holiday company Caledonian Leisure for an undisclosed sum.

The hotel, originally home to the McFarlane Clan, sits at the head of Loch Long and offers 96 bedrooms, two restaurants and a bar with live entertainment.

It was previously owned by Coast & Country hotels and is the latest sale from a portfolio of 33 sites put on the market earlier this year.

The hotel's new owner has renamed the hotel the Caledonian Claymore and is offering coach holiday packages to the hotel.

“The hotel has always been a customer favourite and we have some exciting plans for the future,” said David McDonald, finance director at Caledonian Leisure.

The hotel is the third Coast & Country hotel sale to be confirmed this month after the Grand Atlantic hotel in Weston-super-Mare was acquired by Fragrance Group and the Golden Lion hotel in Norfolk was sold to UK holiday operator L & J Leisure.

Christie & Co is marketing the remaining hotels and has invited any interested parties to get in touch.
