Chefs combine forces to support caterers taking on Atlantic row

Chefs Budgie Montoya, Neil Rankin and Claire Clark are to cook at a dinner to launch the Spirit of Hospitality, a 3,000 mile row across the Atlantic.

The Atlantic Challenge, described as the world’s toughest row, is being undertaken by Chris Mitchell and Robbie Laidlaw from Genuine Dining in December. The pair are pushing themselves to the limit in aid of Hospitality Action.

Montoya, Rankin and Clark are cooking three courses at the dinner at which Mitchell and Laidlaw explain how they are preparing to tackle 20-foot waves, sea valleys five-miles deep, storms and sleep deprivation to row 3,000 miles in support of fellow hospitality employees. Taking place at Westminster Boating Base on 22 June, an individual ticket cost £150, while a table of ten is £1450.

All proceeds from the event will go to Hospitality Action and contribute towards the aim of raising £250,000.

Mitchell said: “We decided to take part in this challenge to raise awareness and vital funds for Hospitality Action. It’s kind of snowballed and now we’re training like mad and we own a boat!

“We’ve got some amazing chefs who are cooking us some dinner and the Admirable Crichton are putting together this event for us, who normally cater for the Royal household. It’s going to be an awesome night and at £150 a ticket it’s a hot ticket with some food cooked by chef superstars.”
