Clench said it was "the right time to finish on a high" at the Shoreditch restaurant.

Theo Clench has left his role as executive chef at Cycene in London after just under two years.

Cycene opened at Blue Mountain School in London’s Shoreditch in October 2022 and won a Michelin star just five months later.

It has maintained the award under Clench, with the guide praising the restaurant’s “delicate, balanced and innovative” 10-course tasting menu.

Clench wrote on Instagram: “The decision was not an easy one to make but the time was right to finish on a high. Thank you to all the guests who dined with us over my tenure, my suppliers who consistently bring in some of the best produce in the world. And most of all to my amazing team.

“I am excited about the possibilities ahead and I am available for collaborations, consultancy, partnerships, private dinners, and events.

“I wish Cycene all the continued success in the future.”

Before joining Cycene, Clench was executive chef at Akoko in Fitzrovia and head chef at nearby Portland.
