Chef Anthony Bourdain would "poison" Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un if asked to cater for them

World-renowned American chef Anthony Bourdain would poison US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un if he was asked to cater for them.

That's if his response in a video interview released by US website TMZ, which has only started to attract attention this week, is to be believed.

The author of Kitchen Confidential was asked what he would serve at a summit between Trump and Kim Jong-un if asked to cook.

Bourdain, presumably joking, responded "hemlock".

Later, when asked about the remark by Fox News, Bourdain said he meant to say "kale" instead of "hemlock" in another apparently light-hearted response.

Bourdian hosted an American food and travel show on CNN called Parts Unknown, in which he famously dined with former US President Barack Obama.

However it emerged last year that he would be very much less keen to dine with Obama's successor, answering "absolutely f***ing not" when website TheWrap asked him if a meal with Trump would be a possibility.

Bourdain, born in New York City, attended the Culinary Institute of America, before going on to run various restaurants in New York City, including the Supper Club, One Fifth Avenue and Brasserie Les Halles, where he was executive chef for several years.

His best-selling book Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly was released in 2000 and provides a behind-the-scenes look at restaurant kitchens, as well as detailing some of his own misdeeds.
