Carrie Wicks’ Chateau Denmark to open 4 April in Soho

It has been confirmed Chateau Denmark in London’s Soho, operated by Carrie Wicks’ CAW Ventures, will open on 4 April.

The hotel, inspired by Denmark Street’s history, will be set across 16 buildings with 55 ‘session rooms’. Apartments and interiors will be by Taylor Howes and are described as “punk rock and vintage gothic meet modern psychedelia with a timeless grandeur”.

Session rooms in the Now Building, accessed through Denmark Place, will include superior, luxury or deluxe categories, with gold-trimmed, graffitied beds and bold colours, and ‘kitchenette maxi-bars’ in the deluxe rooms.

Apartments will be located in a collection of Grade II-listed townhouses, a mews house and mansion buildings along Denmark Street. Starting from 35 sq m, apartments will feature a fireplace opposite a roll-top, red-lined bathtub on a marble plinth, as well as full-size bars and concealed doorways.

Several of the apartments are housed in buildings where the Rolling Stones record their first album and saw visitors including David Bowie, Lou Reed, Chrissie Hynde and Vivienne Westwood. Album sleeve artwork designer Hipgnosis was also located here and worked on Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and Pink Floyd albums.

The Signature apartments will be located across a number of the buildings, including the 51 sq m ‘I Am Anarchy’ duplex mews house, situated behind No 6 Denmark Street. Inspired by former residents the Sex Pistols it will feature gloss black furniture, tartan blinds and graffitied chairs. Adjacent to Denmark Street on Flitcroft Street will be the Flitcroft Apartments, finished in a vintage gothic aesthetic overlooking St Giles-in-the-Fields.

Chateau Denmark will offer a team of butlers, or ‘BTLR’, and service-enhancing technology, as well as the capability to host press interviews and junkets for industry talent and producers. It will also have a collection of art, including paintings, photography, sculpture and illustrations platforming London's creative talent, including Magnus Gjoen and Radek Husak.

The Now Building will be the largest of mixed-use development Outernet London’s immersive spaces. Its public atrium will have a 360-degree creative canvas, on the top floor will be independent restaurant group Tattu’s first London site, inspired by traditional Chinese flavours and ingredients.

Chateau Denmark will also have a lounge bar and basement club, a fitness and wellness space, shops, a recording studio and new venues where guests will have privileged access to view, party, or perform at one the three live spaces, ranging from 360–2,000 capacity.
