Cabotte co-founders Xavier Rousset and Gearoid Devaney are partnering with chef-restaurateurs Chris and Jeff Galvin to launch a monthly lunch club for sommeliers.
Taking place on the last Monday of each month at either a Galvin restaurant in London or Cabotte on London’s Gresham Street, the Monday Somm Club will provide a private forum for sommeliers and professional wine buyers to connect and network, as well as sharing their wine discoveries.
Guests will be encouraged to bring a bottle to suit each month’s wine theme, to be tasted over a lunch that is designed to complement the style being shown.
The first event organised by master sommeliers Rousset and Devaney will take place on 28 June at Galvin La Chapelle and will take the theme of ‘Northern Rhone: St Joseph & Hermitage’.
Rousset said: ‘Sommeliers are a unique breed in that they live, work and breathe wine, but rarely have the opportunity to enjoy it together. The Monday Somm Club is a chance for sommeliers to meet up informally and enjoy some fantastic wine with like-minded people; an opportunity to discover some new gems, with no pressure or expectation other than to enjoy themselves.”
Chris Galvin added: “Jeff and I have always wanted the opportunity to cook for the wine community, especially sommeliers at La Chapelle, in a unique environment where they can relax, share wines and stories together. As chefs we don’t often get the chance to meet our colleagues and thought it would be great to provide a space for these guys to enjoy.”
Tickets are available through the Trade Hospitality app at a cost of £40, which includes an aperitif, a three-course lunch, coffee and service charge.
