A look at the latest restaurants, hotels, pubs and bars to open their doors.
The Buxton Crescent hotel in Derbyshire has opened following a £70m refurbishment of the Grade I-listed Georgian building.
The hotel is the first UK property for Ensana Hotels, Europe’s largest health spa operator. The site has finally been transformed into a hotel after plans were originally announced 16 years ago.
The Crescent, designed by John Carr and constructed in the 1780s, was the centrepiece of the fifth Duke of Devonshire’s plans to establish Buxton as a fashionable Georgian spa town.
The hotel has three pools: a refurbished Victorian thermal pool offering heated and untreated mineral waters, a relaxation pool, and an indoor-outdoor rooftop pool. It also has eight treatment rooms.
The renovation has been financially supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund among other stakeholders.
