Razak Helalat, the founder of Brighton’s Coal Shed and Salt Room restaurants, has launched a new site in the city with music curated by local DJ Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim).
Designed to be a ‘grown-up’ drinking and dining spot, Burnt Orange is open until 12am Monday to Wednesday and 1am Thursday to Saturday. Head chef Peter Dantanus – formerly of the Salt Room – serves a menu of wood-fired dishes designed for grazing.
Drinks include the eponymous Burnt Orange gin martini, which combines Salcombe gin, Cointreau, Lillet Blanc and grilled orange skin; and the Majorelle Julep with Tanqueray gin, fresh pomegranate, pink grapefruit, honey and mint.
The restaurant is situated in a 16th-century former coach house and is close to Brighton seafront. It has 54 indoor covers, a 28-cover courtyard terrace and private dining room with space for 10 guests.
