Bruno Loubet announces Grain Store closure

Chef Bruno Loubet is to close his restaurant, which he runs alongside the Zetter Group, the Grain Store in King's Cross on 23 August 2017.

The classically trained chef, who worked under Pierre Koffmann at La Tante Claire, is said to be retiring from the kitchen for good and take a step back from day-to-day operations.

Bruno's partners, Michael Benyan and Mark Sainsbury of the Zetter Group decided they could not continue operating the King's Cross restaurant without Loubet at the helm.

They have since received an offer for the site.

A statement on the restaurant's Facebook account reads: "After four fantastic years, we are sad to announce that Grain Store will close its doors on 23rd August 2017. Bruno Loubet is keen to retire from full-time cooking after spending over 40 years in the kitchen and we have been made an offer for the site that will allow him to do that.

"Whilst we are extremely sad to say goodbye, we are very proud of what we have achieved here and we plan to go out in true Grain Store style! Please join us and help us celebrate by making your reservation now."

The King's Cross site launched in 2013, while Grain Store Café & Bar at London Gatwick opened last year.

The Gatwick branch will stay open "with Bruno Loubet continuing his work" with Airport Retail Enterprises as chef patron of the Zetter Group.

Grain Store won the Menu of the Year Catey in 2014, and is famed for its sustainable management of its energy, waste and suppliers. The menu is environmentally friendly, with vegetables taking precedence over meat or fish.
