Simon Champion took over as chief executive from Boxpark’s founder in 2022.
Simon Champion is to step down as chief executive of Boxpark after seven years at the company.
In a post on LinkedIn, he said he was looking to “recharge and seek a new challenge”.
Champion has worked at Boxpark, which runs food and retail developments based in shipping containers, since 2018.
He took over as chief executive in 2022 from the group’s founder Roger Wade.
Champion said: “After nearly seven years serving as CFO and CEO of Boxpark, I’m announcing my decision to step down from my role as CEO.
“I love the Boxpark brand, and I’m really proud of the growth and everything that we achieved over the past seven years.
“The team at Boxpark is a wonderful, passionate group who I am grateful to for all their hard work, and I will miss them. But now I want to recharge and seek a new challenge.”
Boxpark was founded in 2010 as a “pop-up mall” and now runs three sites in London and one in Liverpool.
The group is set to launch new concept, Boxhall, which will take over existing buildings rather than constructing a venue from scratch, in Bristol and the former entrance of London Liverpool Street station this year.
Boxpark is also due to take over Buck Street Market in London’s Camden later this month.
The original Shoreditch Boxpark will close at the end of the summer after talks to extend its lease were unsuccessful.
