Boringdon Hall becomes Plymouth's only five-AA-star hotel

Boringdon Hall, a 16th century country manor hotel in Plympton, has become the only hotel in Plymouth to be awarded five star status by the AA.

The hotel, owned by the Nettleton Group, recently underwent a complete refurbishment of all its 40 bedrooms and suites, as well as its great hall and Gallery restaurant. Nettleton, a hotel group based in the South West, also owns the Fistral Beach hotel and the Esplanade hotel, both in Newquay, Cornwall. The group acquired the hotel off a £2.25m asking price out of administration in 2011.

Scott Paton was appointed head chef at the hotel earlier this year, after he earned three AA rosettes while head chef at the Horn of Plenty in Gulworthy, Devon. The hotel also launched its Gaia spa in September, and introduced concierge and valet services to further extend the guest experience.

There are currently 111 Five Star Hotels currently in the UK.
