Bone Daddies founder launches new concept Poke-Don

The restaurant group behind Bone Daddies and Flesh & Buns is to launch a new lunchtime concept named Poke-Don.

Poke-Don will blur the lines between Hawaiian poke and donburi, a Japanese dish created to be quickly prepared by adding ingredients from across a menu to rice bowls.

Launching within Flesh & Buns Oxford Circus, Poke-Don will use the Nikkei elements of the restaurant's offering alongside smoked meats prepared in the restaurants wood-fuelled smoker.

Dishes will include chilli-rubbed smoked brisket, soy-braised shitake, chipotle miso, broccoli and steamed rice; ceviche mixto, avocado, shiso, yuzu and yellow pepper mayo, popcorn and sushi rice; as well as a chicken and veg katsu with secret recipe curry sauce, pickled daikon, cabbage and steamed rice.

Bone Daddies founder Ross Shonhan said: "Poke-Don is brand new to the London food scene. It's our exciting take on the mix between a traditional donburi and a poke, using the array of Nikkei elements and the smoker in our Oxford Circus izakaya. We're aiming for this to be a quick and easy, yet premium lunch offering for Londoners. This is an exciting time to prove a new concept; we will then look to take it beyond Flesh and Buns".

The concept will launch exclusively on weekday lunchtimes, initially as an eat-in option, with plans to add a delivery option at a later date. Prices start at £10.30.

Poke-Dons will be offered for £2 at Flesh & Buns Oxford Circus from midday to 3pm, from 16 July to 26 July.
