The BBC series followed the team at a busy London restaurant
There are currently no plans to make a second series of BBC chef drama Boiling Point, according to reports.
The four-part series aired in 2023 as a follow-up to the acclaimed 2021 film of the same name, which followed the team at a busy London restaurant.
It was created by former head chef Philip Barantini and ex-front of house worker James Cummings and shone on a light on issues such as addiction and mental health in hospitality – although its approach proved divisive in the industry.
The film received four BAFTA nominations, and the series was praised by critics, but there are no plans for it to return with a second season soon.
A source told The Sun: “It’s not often a drama gets such love from viewers and critics but Boiling Point was such a rarity the team has been left disappointed that there’s no news on a second series.
"The fact is there’s still an appetite for more, it’s just making that happen.
“Boiling Point is on the shelf, so to speak, but if the right story or idea comes along then there’s every chance it could be back on screens one day.”
The original movie was filmed on location in Jones & Sons restaurant in London’s Dalston and Liverpudlian chef Ellis Barrie consulted on series.
Speaking in 2023, Cummings said the team had more ideas they wished to explore in a second series.
“If we were to do more [episodes] there’s a larger systemic thing [in the hospitality industry] that would be great to address and imagine ways to make it better,” said Cummings.
