Blaze destroys five floors of Metro Hotel in Dublin

A fire has destroyed at least five floors of the Metro Hotel, close to Dublin airport.

 

More than 60 firefighters tackled the blaze through the night and remain at the scene damping down.

 

It is understood that about 150 guests staying at the premises have been accounted for and transferred to the nearby Carlton hotel. Dublin Fire Brigade said there had been no reports of injuries.

 

According to Irish broadcaster RTÉ the blaze started in a private residence above the hotel.

An investigation into the cause of the blaze is expected to begin today.
