Blakemore Foodservice wins £9m contracts

Blakemore Foodservice has been awarded five new contracts worth a total of £9m.

The new contracts, all based in Yorkshire, will add over 400 new accounts to the company's portfolio across education, care homes, leisure facilities, and other council-run services. The contracts, which started last month, will be served from its dedicated 80,000 sq ft foodservice site in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

With over 40 years of food service experience, the family-owned business is an approved Food for Life supplier. Recognised by the Department of Health, Department for Education, and the Government’s Plan for Public Procurement, Food for Life aims to raise the standards of food quality, provenance, and environmental sustainability in public and private sector catering.

In addition, Blakemore’s ongoing Responsible Business Programme commits to ensuring sustainable practices across the fleet, environmental practices, and initiatives like the Branching Out programme that support the company’s neighbourhoods.

Johnson added: “The Branching Out programme was created to help bridge the gap between education and employment. It is estimated that 60% of young people are leaving school without the necessary skills to enter the world of work. The scheme aims to meet the skills gaps of the future.”
