Latest openings: Bike & Boot, Six by Nico London, Stein’s on the Quay and more

A look at the latest restaurants, hotels, pubs and bars to open their doors

Bike & Boot

The Bike & Boot hotel has opened in Scarborough, the first of what will become a boutique collection of properties.

The brand is owned by Simon Rhatigan, former owner of the Feversham Arms hotel in Helmsley, North Yorkshire, which won the Catey award for Independent Hotel of the Year in 2011; and Simon Kershaw, who headed the hospitality team at Carlton Towers.

The hotel features a 100-cover bar and grill, walking and surfing drying rooms, secure bicycle storage, dog-washing provisions, a retreat lounge with complimentary hot drinks, and an in-house cinema.

Kershaw and Rhatigan acquired the property, formerly the Mount hotel, in January 2019 for an undisclosed sum off an asking price of £2m. All future expansion of the Bike and Boot concept will be via leasehold properties, probably along the north-east coast, and in the Yorkshire Dales, Peak District or Lake District.

The concept is described as a “modern leisure escape” with “funky interiors” at an affordable price, aimed at the short break market with facilities for cyclists, walkers and dog owners.
