Bid to save Mercure hotel in Merseyside ‘continuing'

AccorHotels has said "work is continuing" to save an 84-bedroom hotel operating under its Mercure brand in Merseyside.

The privately-owned hotel in St Helens is listed as unavailable for bookings on its parent group's website, and permanently closed on Google.

A representative from AccorHotels said: "We have been made aware by the owner's representatives of Mercure St Helens that the hotel has been experiencing some financial difficulties.

"We understand work is continuing in order to secure the ongoing operation of the hotel."

On Friday the St Helens Star reported hotel staff were told it would remain open in the short term, however it remains listed as closed on several booking sites.
