A look at the latest restaurants, hotels, pubs and bars to open their doors.
Chet Sharma, who has spent the past four years working as development chef for JKS Restaurants, is opening his debut restaurant in London’s Mayfair with the group’s backing.
Bibi is named after the Urdu word meaning ‘lady of the house’, and is inspired by Sharma’s travels in India and his grandmother’s cooking.
Before working for JKS, Sharma made his name as a development chef at Michelin-starred restaurants including Mark Birchall’s Moor Hall and Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume.
Bibi offers a Chef’s Selection menu, priced at £35 for lunch and £55 for dinner, while the à la carte menu is split into five sections including bar snacks, chaat small plates, Sigree (dishes inspired by Lahore kebab vendors), sides and desserts.
The restaurant seats 33 covers, including 13 at the kitchen counter and an additional 20 on the terrace. Sam Hosker, design director at JKS, has overseen the interiors, drawing inspiration from old Indian buildings and Sharma’s grandmother’s farmhouse in Haryana.
