The five-red-AA-star, 32-bedroom property in Great Milton, Oxfordshire, was voted number one on the Hoteliersâ Hotels Top 100 list, unveiled by The Caterer and Sky at a glittering reception held at Londonâs Hotel Café Royal this evening.
Compiled by the UKâs leading hoteliers and verified by some of the nationâs pre-eminent hotel experts, including hotel reviewer of The Telegraph Fiona Duncan, consultants Amanda Afiya and Giovanna Grossi and senior editors at The Caterer, the list also included the name of six category winners.
Every year since 1984 when Blanc launched Le Manoir aux QuatâSaisons as a restaurant with four bedroom, the propertyâs footprint and reputation has grown to the extent that it now regarded as a world-class hotel, today featuring 32 bedrooms, a cookery school and one of the UKâs most impressive kitchen gardens.
Despite a change of ownership in recent years â" it is now part of the Belmond empire of luxury hotels â" the hotel has firmly remained the focus of Blancâs inspiration, resulting in hotel that consistently impresses hoteliers up and down the country for offering the all-round package of excellence in food, service and design.
Le Manoir added to its overall Hoteliersâ Hotels award by also winning the Food Hotel of the Year title.
The award for City Hotel of the Year went to the Goring (third overall), while Chewton Glen, overall winner of the inaugural award in 2016 and second this year, took the title of Countryside Hotel of the Year.
The other category winners included Lucknam Park (number 17), which scooped the Spa Hotel of the Year title; Gleneagles (number nine) â" Family-Friendly Hotel of the Year; and Foxhill Manor (number 31) â" Boutique Hotel of the Year.
Chris Gamm, editor of The Caterer, said: Hoteliers are the bet judges of the UK hotel industry and the Hoteliersâ Hotels Top 100 showcases a wide breath of properties that celebrates our Great British hotels, from the best service and design to exquisite food and beverage.â
Bronwyn Groves, sales director at Sky, added: âWeâre delight to be involved in Hoteliersâ Hotels for the third year. What sets it apart is that it is voted for by the people who know the hotel industry the best â" the hoteliers themselves. They know what it takes to create the ultimate guest experience and provide a home-from-home where guests can truly relax and unwind.â
